Why Standing Seam

Buy the roof once

Standing seam metal roofing is designed to stand up to severe weather. Its interlocking panels and concealed fasteners create a tighter seal that helps resist wind-driven rain, reduce the risk of leaks, and provide exceptional performance in high-wind conditions — all while delivering decades of reliable protection.

No exposed fasteners

Panels attach with concealed clips — no screw heads or rubber gaskets left baking in the sun. The usual failure points of cheaper metal roofs simply aren't there.

Seams above the water line

Each panel locks into the next at a raised, mechanically folded seam that stands proud of the drainage plane — sealing out wind-driven rain instead of sitting in it.

Formed to your roof

Panels are roll-formed to the exact length of each run. Fewer joints, fewer penetrations, fewer places for weather to work on.

Decades, not shingle cycles

Premium color-coated steel is engineered for UV stability and corrosion resistance. A properly detailed standing seam roof is a generational purchase — built to outlast multiple rounds of asphalt.

Learn

Standing seam, explained

What is standing seam metal roofing?

Vertical steel panels that run from ridge to eave and join at raised, interlocking seams. The fasteners are concealed under the panels rather than driven through the surface, so nothing penetrates the part of the roof that sheds water.

What does "mechanical lock" mean?

After the panels are laid, a seaming tool folds the adjoining panel edges together into a tight, continuous lock — in a double-lock seam, folded over twice. It's the most weather-resistant way to join metal roof panels, and the reason this style of roof handles low slopes and hard weather that snap-together systems can't.

How does it handle severe weather?

Standing seam metal roofing is designed to stand up to severe weather. Its interlocking panels and concealed fasteners create a tighter seal that helps resist wind-driven rain, reduce the risk of leaks, and provide exceptional performance in high-wind conditions — all while delivering decades of reliable protection.

How long will it last?

A standing seam roof's service life is measured in decades — it's common for one to outlast two or three rounds of asphalt shingles. The factory-applied finish is engineered for UV stability and corrosion resistance, so it keeps its color as well as its seal.

Is a metal roof loud in the rain?

That's a holdover from barns with metal over open framing. Installed over solid decking and underlayment — the way we install it — a standing seam roof sounds about the same in the rain as any other roof.

What about snow and ice?

The smooth, slick surface sheds snow instead of holding it, which is a real advantage in snow country. Where controlled shedding matters — above doorways and walkways — we detail the roof with snow retention.

Can I buy panels without the install?

Yes. We offer supply-only fabrication: panels roll-formed to your cut list, with matching trim and flashings, ready for pickup or delivery to your crew.
